Intelligent Design is a science now?
McCain’s top VP prospect, Bobby Jindal, apparently believes that Intelligent Design is “the very best science.” When talking about the subject, he mentioned that “The way we’re going to have smart, intelligent kids is exposing them to the very best science and let them not only decide, but also let them contribute to that body of knowledge.”
So apparently, he seems to believe that we not only need to teach Intelligent Design in schools (as he mentioned earlier in the speech), but that kids should be able to “contribute to that body of knowledge.” I’m curious… since when are we allowed to “contribute” to Intelligent Design theories? I was always under the impression that the Bible (and other religious texts) are non-negotiable… how can kids contribute to the body of Christian knowledge?
He also mentioned that he doesn’t want “any facts of theories withheld from [his kids] because of political correctness.” Personally, I was always under the impression that we keep religion out of public schools for reasons much more important than “political correctness.” I thought that we lived in the “Land of the Free” where you could get through school without being subject to a certain mandatory religion.
Sure, we can teach our kids religion… I’m not opposed to religion as a concept. But this is the sort of education that should be restricted to personal homes. If you want to teach your kids to be Hindu or Mormon or Baptist or Muslim, it’s not my problem… but if you want to feed a certain religion to my kids, it’s suddenly a big deal. Kids go to school to learn facts based on empirical evidence, not to learn a certain prophet’s interpretation of the truth.
Are you ready to see Bobby Jindal as the next Dick Cheney?

THE BIGGER PICTURE IN THE DEBATE ON DARWINISM IS NOT INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
The reason is elementary: the Discovery Institute and other ID proponents leave out the Triune God, Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Hence, Richard Dawkins can make the case for “aliens” seeding the earth.
The Quest for Right, a series of 7 textbooks created for the public schools, represents the ultimate marriage between an in-depth knowledge of biblical phenomena and natural and physical sciences. The several volumes have accomplished that which, heretofore, was deemed impossible: to level the playing field between those who desire a return to physical science in the classroom and those who embrace the theory of evolution. The Quest for Right turns the tide by providing an authoritative and enlightening scientific explanation of natural phenomena which will ultimately dethrone the unprofitable Darwinian view.
“I am amazed at the breadth of the investigation - scientific history, biblical studies, geology, biology, geography, astronomy, chemistry, paleontology, and so forth - and find the style of writing to be quite lucid and aimed clearly at a general, lay audience.” ― Mark Roberts, former Editor of Biblical Reference Books, Thomas Nelson Publishers.
The Quest for Right series of books, based on physical science, the old science of cause and effect, has effectively dismantled the quantum additions to the true architecture of the atom. Gone are the nonexistent particles once thought to be complementary to the electron and proton (examples: neutrons, neutrinos, photons, mesons, quarks, Z’s, bosons, etc.) and a host of other pseudo particles.
To the curious, scientists sought to explain Atomic theory by introducing fantastic particles that supposedly came tumbling out of the impact between two particles, when in fact, the supposed finds were simply particulate debris. There are only two elementary particles which make up the whole of the universe: the proton and electron. All other particles were added via quantum magic and mathematical elucidation in an attempt to explain earthly phenomena without God.
Introducing the scheme of coincidence, which by definition, “is the systematic ploy of obstructionists who, in lieu of any divine intervention, state that any coincidental grouping or chance union of electrons and protons (and neutrons), regardless of the configuration, always produces a chemical element. This is the mischievous tenet of electron interpretation which states that all physical, chemical, and biological processes result from a change in the electron structure of the atom which, in turn, may be deciphered through the orderly application of mathematics, as outlined in quantum mechanics. A few of the supporting theories are: degrading stars, neutron stars, black holes, extraterrestrial water, antimatter, the absolute dating systems, and the big bang, the explosion of a singularity infinitely smaller than the dot of an “i” from which space, time, and the massive stellar bodies supposedly sprang into being.
The Quest for Right is not only better at explaining natural phenomena, but also may be verified through testing. As a consequence, the material in the several volumes will not violate the so-called constitutional separation of church and state. Physical science, the old science of cause and effect, will have a long-term sustainability, replacing irresponsible doctrines based on whim. Teachers and students will rejoice in the simplicity of earthly phenomena when entertained by the new discipline.

It is not science, it is common sense. Evolution and Darwinism have so many holes that educators have been teaching around for years that it was just a natural (evolution) to blend the theories with a creator. Freiman explains it very simply in Current Events, Conservative Outcomes. The lack of evidence is just as crucial to science as the existence of evidence.
While I agree that Jindal is an idiot for saying that ID is a science and that students could contribute to the knowledge - I must say that there must be a balance somewhere in the classroom if science teachers are going to continue to teach the THEORY of evolution as fact. They should clearly state that what the kids are about to learn is an unproven theory and its just speculation. I agree that it is not up to the public school system to teach religion either. So - how do we compromise?
I like Mr. Parson’s idea. That sounds like a great piece of literature that should be taught in the schools..but..like all classic literature - it has been banned from public schools. When I was in middle and high school, I can remember reading Shakespeare, Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451), Rawls (Where the Red Fern Grows), Orwell (Animal Farm, 1984), and Golding (Lord of the Flies) just to name a few in addition to the poets. Our kids don’t get this kind of literature any longer - they get contemporary garbage like Juno, Smoking in the Girls Room, and Friday Night Lights.
So - if they are reading junk literature, it’s no wonder they are learning junk science.
Bobo - I can’t tell if you are a sympathetic troll or a sock puppet of David Parsons. The Theory of Evolution is not speculation, it is a series of demonstrated facts woven into an explanatory tapestry. It explains how we are all part of a huge biological family of descendants of a single common ancestry from the ancient beginnings of life some 3.5 billion years ago.
I have read Parson’s first book. He is completely misrepresenting the fact that he is teaching his own interpretation of biblical creation. He adds scientific language to the bible, claims that this is proof of his vision. He denigrates real science in favor of his new scripture, he claims liberal conspiracies in the courts and even renames all the planets because the current names we use are a celebration of paganism. It’s not a compromise, it’s not a fix. It’s goofy. His story of the creation of the earth and the crystal well are totally unsupported by any research.
If you are so easily swayed by this spam on Globally Rational from Parsons, it then explains the positions you take on your own site.
Mike - first, I am neither a sympathetic troll nor a sock puppet to anybody - I reserve sock puppetry for you libs - you barely have a single brain between the lot of ya. Evolution is a THEORY - a very unproven THEORY! If it was fact it would no longer be called a THEORY now would it? Thus far there has been absolutely no indisputable proof that the human species evolved from ape, fish, bacteria, microbes or any other such nonsense and you’re an idiot for believing it - THEORY not fact. It is an unproven hypothesis - a conjecture, a speculation.
So - what’s the deal? I take it from your site you are either atheist, gay, or both. Are you another one of those lib anti-christian haters that gobble up the I hate America mantra and blame all your failures on Christians for sticking to our values and morals?
While, admittedly, I have not actually read anything from Parsons - what is posted above sounds reasonable. That is all I was going by when I made my comment. If he has other nutty theories or ideas - well so be it - then I would agree it should not be taught in the schools.
However, I stand by my first statement that if public schools insist on dumbing down our children with their liberal agendas of fairness, zero tolerance, and no one wins, and interjecting idiotic social agendas into the curriculum along with junk science such as evolution - then this country deserves to be ranked in the bottom for math, sciences, and literature. Your lib social policies in a public school is the problem. Removing God from our schools was a huge mistake.
And before you get in to that whole bogus “separation of church and state” thing - there is no such thing. It was one sentence out of a whole speech that Jefferson gave in front of the Southern Baptist Convention. It was a thought - but - it is not legislation. Freakin’ lib idiots like you and the ACLU are destroying this country with your frivolities, immoralities, and decadence that is being passed on to our youth.
My positions are my own positions. There was no reason for your comments and tone that you took. You guys are all the same and you’re pathetic for it. You don’t even know how to enter in to oppositional commentary without bringing it to the gutters right from the gate.
Bobo, I assume since you think christian mythology should be taught as truth in public schools that you will also give your full support to teaching the mythologies of all religions in the world as truth. If you do not agree with that, then perhaps you need to discover an empirical method of determining what truth is, so that the relative merits of the worlds religions can be discussed rationally. If you do discover this empirical method of evaluating truth, you will find that it has already been discovered and that it is called the scientific method.
Pay close attention to this part, its very important: If you want your religion taught as truth, but refuse to allow ANY AND ALL other religions to also be taught as truth in the very same classroom, then you are a bigot as well as a fool.
Since I doubt you want your child to learn that cows are holy and should not be killed or that they should sacrifice blood from their penis in order to ensure the sun rises in the morning, you will have to accept that others do not want their children to be exposed to the exactitudes of when to stone your children in the proper christian manner.
The foolishness of that is apparent to anyone who is capable of rational thought.
Evolution is a fact. The precise method by which evolution occurs is called the Theory of Evolution. I doubt you dispute the theory of gravity, or do you? If you go into a hospital for a vaccine, do you ask for the ‘un-evolved’ vaccine from the 1920’s or the modern one which treats the modern evolved disease?
You see, your beliefs are hypocritical and nonsensical.
Abandon this faith bullshit and try to think rationally.
Seriously, Aor? First - where did I ever state that religion should be taught in public schools? While I did in fact state one of the biggest downfalls of our public school system was removing God - that does not imply that I mean religion should be taught. What that means is that our children should be allowed to openly discuss their religion and their beliefs without fear of being expelled as is the case today since the First Amendment of our Constitution gives them that right. If it is in a child’s culture to pray before a meal that child should be able to do so without fear of having haters like yourself make fun of that child. As it stands, only muslim children are allowed to freely display and practice their religion in our public schools today.
Again with the theory versus fact stuff again. You guys are all the same. While there is indeed gravity theory - the theory surrounds how gravity effects this planet and other planets within the universe and the mechanism of gravity - not that gravity itself is not a fact. The theory is all about how it works. You might want to pull out your physics books again - or did you even take physics and just decided to pull that on out of your ass?
The Theory of Evolution is a theory of how plants, insects, man and animals came about on this planet through time and metamorphosis - they change with their environment. While there is evolutionary fact regarding certain classifications of plants and insects - there has never been a proven link between man and animals and therefore is not factual..it is only supposition and conjecture. Our children should not be taught they evolved from some other species when there is no proven scientific basis behind it.
Yes, I have faith. Yes, I believe in God. Yes, I believe that the Judeo-Christian God is the only God and all others are false. While you may choose to believe it is only mythology - that is your choice. I don’t debate religion because it is pointless to try to talk to people like you who are closed and small minded. I don’t push my religion on anybody - so - don’t try to push your bullshit theories on me or my children and don’t use my taxes to push your agenda.
You see, unlike you, I actually do listen to both sides of every issue and I make up my own mind. I don’t close myself off to opinions different than mine. You are just a follower and let others make up your mind for you. I have read the Koran; Torah; King James Bible; Greek, Roman, & Norse mythologies; The Taisho Daizokyo, and have taken physics, chemistry, and biology. I also speak four languages. I speak Hebrew, Greek, German, and English. I read the Torah in Hebrew so as not to lose the translation. The King James Version is a Hebrew to Greek to English translation..so I learned Greek to follow the translations.
What have you done other than repeated what others are saying? Have you actually investigated and taken a journey for your own enlightenment?
I found Christianity through my own journey in search of knowledge. Until you can tell me that you have done the same..don’t try to push your crap on me.
I don’t see your closemindedness as listening to both sides of the issue. Science is clear cut on the validity of evolutionary theory. You must have heard that countless times, but you still make this blatantly false claim of listening to both sides.
I took plenty of physics. BSc physics UBC 1998. Perhaps your english comprehension skills are behind those of educated people and you mistook my attempt to elucidate you on the meaning of ‘theory’ to be something other than what it was. Reading your comment I can only say that you utterly failed to understand my point. Perhaps you can describe this ‘gravity theory’. What is it that causes gravity again? Perhaps you mean the theory of Quantum Gravity? That is quite new, all things being considered. You see, gravity exists and is real and provable.. just exactly how it occurs, whether it involves particles or the distortion of the space time continuum by matter, or any other possible theory, is the ‘theory of gravity’. Similarly, evolution occurs. You can deny it all you like, but the fact that fossils from different layers of geological deposits have different attributes is undeniable. When discussing how this occurs, one talks about the Theory of Evolution. There is no disputing that it DOES occur however, which means Evolution happens. If it helps you not to pull out your hair, you can pretend to yourself that your particular bronze age war god is behind it, but outright denial destroys your credibility.
Each time you repeat those things you mislead those who read your words. These are clear cut issues that are completely within the realm of science. In fact, and this might surprise you very much, men are animals. You see, the tree of life is divided into branches which include various kingdoms, one of which is Animalia, which includes humans. Your inability to understand this simple fact implies that perhaps you are attempting to deceive people about your level of education, or maybe you went to schools that taught religion in science classes.. which, one would hope, would be enough to make you blush.
As for being a follower.. this is confusing. How does a person who is willing to use rational thought to discuss any and all issues a follower? What then do we call a person who accepts ‘revealed truths’ in a religious manner, which implies unquestioning acceptance of the writings of some holy book? I think perhaps you do not understand the definition of ‘follower’ if you truly believe what you claim to believe. Actually though, I don’t think you believe that. I think you are scrambling around for some way to make your irrational thoughts appear to be rational once they are put into text form, and that is a waste of effort. Your thoughts are simply not rational and so you should consider re-evaluating the things that led you to your so patently flawed conclusions.
Science classes are for science. Religion is not science. If you really want your kids to be able to discuss their religion then you must accept that the place for that is not in a science class. To dispute this simple and clear point is impossible for an honest person, not that I find you to be intellectually honest even with yourself. Science requires a far more stringent approach to evaluating things than a religion, any religion, which simply declares something to be true and tells its followers not to have doubts. That approach to finding the truth is worthless.
I found rational thought comes naturally to me and that it is the true path to knowledge. Until you show the ability to think rationally, don’t push your crap on me. And keep it out of science classes.
I agree with Mitch; too many holes in evolution. I firmly believe that we creationist should have the opportunity to explore Intelligent Design in schools. It is not “shoving religion” down anyone’s throat.
