Is Ahmadinejad joking?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, has literally threatened to punch the West in the face if they don’t stop pestering him about his nuclear program. His rhetoric has to be some of the most self-destructive that I’ve ever heard (if you don’t believe me, watch what he said when he spoke at Columbia University)… I think he tries to make himself look like an idiot:

On top of that, here’s something you probably didn’t know: Most Shi’a Muslims, which make up almost all of Iran’s population, consider their top religious leader (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) to be the final authority on everything; even according to the Iranian constitution, he has more actual power than Ahmadinejad (including control over the military). Khamenei has proclaimed that Iran is not producing nuclear weapons. If he lied, that would compromise his religious status and he would lose all of their power, so he must not know about the nuclear weapons. That means that Ahmadinejad must be lying to Khamenei, which is another suicidal idea.

Iran is probably producing nuclear weapons, I won’t deny that. They’re enriching their uranium far too extensively to say that they’ll just be using it for power. The question is why Ahmadinejad is trying to hide it… everybody will find out when he gets the weapons anyway (not to mention that we already know about it).

I think that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might have a mental disability that causes him to be self-destructive. He just does stupid stuff all the time without worrying about what the world will do to him. Can he really be that bad of a decision-maker?

  1. Mahmoud Ahmedinejad needs to be quiet. But on the other side of that issue so does President Bush. It only makes the situation worse when someone you consider your enemy starts putting pressure on you and ridiculing you. They need a third party preferably someone who Iran respects to start talking sense.

  2. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. This does have some similarity to my post.

To answer the question, I don’t think he is joking. I think he is a religious fanatic that seriously wants to bring destruction on the U.S. and Israel. He’s a radical, and you’re right, I don’t think he’ll be re-elected. Even the Ayatollah is trying to get him to cool his rhetoric.

Finn..who do you propose? Russia? China? Like they’ll have the everyone’s best interests in mind!

  3. Well I think Russia might be a candidate for talks, but in the past when they’ve tried to get involved on a diplomatic front we ended up with concessions that we didn’t want. Like in the case of Iraq prior to the war. I think it has to be a nation from the middle east. There are a few countries over there that don’t entirely hate western culture. It’s an outside hope at best but when you look at the alternative its worth a shot.

  4. I think the problem mainly boils down to ego, just like many other world problems (i.e. China/Tibet/Taiwan, Pakistan/India, etc.). Once Bush and Ahmadinejad are both out of office, we might see some diplomacy because the new Presidents won’t need to justify the previous Presidents’ actions.

I think Ahmadinejad is just kind of messed up in the head now (like Milosevic or Mugabe or many other world leaders who stopped thinking rationally at one point). If we try to invade Iran, it can only lead to bad things… as long as the military is under the control of the Ayatollah, I don’t think we have much to worry about. Once Ahmadinejad is out of office, everything will take care of itself… we have more important things to deal with.

  5. You my cousin, have turned into a succesful victim of the masonic/jewish lobby working to program your bloody brain all this while you’ve been living in that extremist fascist state. They’ve engrossed you too much in life, entertainment, career and thirst for money that you’ve even forgotten where your roots lie, so please snap out of all this bullshit and cut down on the times you’ve used we and us in your aricles. It hurts to hear you talk like that perhaps you need to take a bath in Sindhu darya when you come here, which just might enhance your patriotism to the land of the pure and especially the ideology on which it was founded on, Islam. I will not say much about these articles and reserve my comments till your here infront of us. Your in for a very long discussion my son. About time to cut this crap.

  7. Shan, I would have written this in the form of a post somewhere because I’ve had it up to my common sense with the utter b.s.-ness of your blog. You live in a highly sheltered bubble in the US which leaves you with absolutely no right for you to give conclusive comments on world affairs, seeing as - an pardon my argumentum ad hominem, but I am your cousin - you don’t appear to have the capacity for well-rounded and fair arguments.

    Take care.
